Blurple!

5.0 out of 5.0 by Hawk eye on August 6, 2019
Yeah, if you caught on to the name I used in the headline, I am a Yamaha fan. But blurple is the best simple way I can think of to describe the color of this filament.Yes, it's blue, but there's just enough violet in there to come through. It's not bad, mind you, but if you need a dedicated BLUE color, I don't think this will serve your purpose. Oh, and this is a LIGHTER shade of blurple, so don't mistake my pun for thinking this will match Yamaha's darker "Royal Blurple" color.Moving on to printing nuances..... This stuff prints fine. Two things to note with silk filament in any color is:1. It expands. A LOT. You might have to dial in your line width on your slicer if you're going for precision, but you shouldn't have to adjust your flow rate too.2. Since it expands when heated, you should bump your temperature up. For me, 215-220 degrees Celsius on a 0.4mm nozzle works great. Normally I run PLA between 200-210 degrees Celsius. So for me personally, only a small boost in temperature is needed, but I do see others saying that even hotter temps like 240 degrees works great. For me, going over 225 degrees just doesn't seem to make a difference.I've used a number of silk filaments recently, and all of them print fine, especially with a temperature adjustment. No issues of any kind, be it layers, extrusion, flow, etc. This filament is in that group, no issues to report, and I'm about 2/3 of the way through this spool. I don't intend to immediately replace this spool when I run out, but if I want this color again, I'll buy another spool without hesitation.
Super silky techno shine

Taken by surprise by this. It has an *aggressive* grip on blue tape @ 210°/50° Tip/Bed temps. Prints smooooth on a CR-10 and the color can't be accurately captured by a phone - but it's the best techno-spacey-titanium-blue metallic I've seen.I can't wait to print my upgrade parts in this. I'll have to get another roll in case they disappear. My CR-10 Settings:.4 mm nozzle205° nozzle, 50° bed1.2mm layer height3/3/2 Top/Bottom/Outlines20% infill40 mm/s

Very cool color. Adhered to both the stock print bed for an Ender 3 and an upgraded glass print bed. Successfully printed at 205/60. Will but again.
