Worth it for the tart recipe alone.

I subscribe to the America's Test Kitchen website so I have ready access to all of their recipes but I wanted to make sure I had the French Apple Tart recipe always at hand. It is a showstopper, especially at gardening events. They take a great deal of effort so I have started to make them en masse (4 or 5 at a time) and freezing them so I always have one handy. This book is worth it for that recipe alone.There are also recipes for great homemade pizza and tips from the test kitchen and cooks illustrated readers. I own 4 of these "Best of" books from ATK and this is the one I refer to most often and the only one I would suggest buying. ATK is always a reliable source for well planned and easy to pull off recipes.Products I use specifically for the tart, all highly rated by ATK, are: 1 X Fluted Tart/Quiche Pan with Removable Bottom - 9.5 Inch Diameter Norpro 5118 Grip EZ Fruit Corer and WedgerSmucker's Apricot Preserves, 18 oz, 3 pk

I highly recommend America's Test Kitchen! I follow their recipes most all the time (since the early 1990s) and have not been disappointed. The cooks extensively test recipes until the desired results are reached. I have learned so much about cooking that it helps me "wing it" on busy days when I just need to cobble together a random selection of items hanging in the 'fridge. In this way, the benefits far extend from just a book of recipes. As well, because America's Test Kitchen teaches the "why" of a recipe technique I am learning the "how" to apply it to new foods or to improve on recipes from other sources.
Learning to Cook Again!

Great instructions, pictures. Definitely would recommend this to a friend, a new bride or someone just learning to cook. My husband did most of the cooking while the kids were in school and college so I wanted to get my hands back into the game after I retired. This is the perfect book for someone like me who used ti be a good cook but who has been away from the kitchen for many years.
